Why the Season Change Affects Your Energy
In short
Fernanda says we are nature, made of the same water and minerals. So when the season turns, our energy, or our mood, turns with it. As the days get shorter, the body notices the light changing before the mind catches up. Nobody can say exactly why less light changes how we feel. For her, wanting to slow down in autumn is real information from the body. It's a good time to let go, sleep more and say no to a few things.
- For her, we have seasons too, so we are not meant to feel the same every day.
- With shorter days, the body notices the light changing before the mind catches up.
- Around a season change she sees more tiredness, more emotion, and old feelings surfacing.
- She asks the elements for help and sets a one-sentence intention for the season ahead.

Some days this week you might feel tired for no reason. Heavier. A little more emotional than usual. You didn't do anything wrong. The season is turning, and so are you. I'm Fernanda. I've been an energy healer for over twenty years, and every year, right around this week, my room fills up with people feeling exactly this. So in the next few minutes I want to show you why the season change moves your energy, or call it your mood if you'd rather. And one small thing to ask for today. There's a short practice at the end too. One thing first. This is a complementary practice. It sits alongside your doctor, never instead of them.
Here's what I believe, and I stand behind it every time. We are nature. Our bodies are made of the same water and minerals. We carry that history in us, millions of years of earth and water, without even realizing it. So when the trees change with the season, and the whole outside world changes with the season, I don't think we are the only thing left standing still. The moon has four different phases in a month. For me, we have seasons too, in the month and in the year. Which means we are not meant to feel the same every single day, or the same every single month. For me, that's energy moving through its own weather. You can call it your mood, or your motivation. Somewhere between my definition and yours.
In my room, I notice it every year, right around a season change. People come in more tired than usual. More emotional too. Old feelings surface that they thought were long finished. That's not a bad week. That's the body asking to slow down. Their body is asking for quiet, and their mind keeps arguing with it. They don't need fixing. They need permission to rest. So the fading season is for letting go. Sleeping more. Saying no to a few things. And that's allowed. The earth has held mountains for millions of years. Your Tuesday is not too heavy for it.
Here's the plain version of it. The days are getting shorter now, and your body notices the light changing before your mind catches up. We're only one day from the autumn equinox now, the exact middle point between summer and winter. Nobody can tell you exactly why less light changes how you feel. As far as anyone can tell, your body has simply always noticed it first. Call it energy dropping, or call it your body running on less light. Either way, wanting to slow down here is your body giving you real information. Your body is telling you exactly what season it's in. So this week, an earlier night is right on time, and your body already knows it.
For me it's water, fire, earth, air, and spirit above them all. And I ask them for exactly what I need. On a grey morning, when the light is low and getting up feels heavy, I ask the sun for strength. Even behind the clouds. In the shower, I ask the water to wash away the day. Water is for cleansing. That's what it has always done. If you're more drawn to earth, ask earth to give you soil to stand on, and the strength to face what's ahead. Ask air, through the wind, to carry off whatever doesn't serve you anymore. You don't need the right words for any of it, and you don't need to get it right. Just ask. The elements need to know exactly what you're looking for. So tell them. I set mine the moment I wake up, so the day goes well, or at least doesn't go as badly as I feared.
Then set an intention for the season ahead. Not a big plan. One sentence. Something like, this season I rest more. Or, this season I say no more often. Say it out loud, or write it down. Either way, your brain hears it. Repeat it the same way you brush your teeth, and it becomes part of you. At the end of the season, look back. Notice what's actually different in you.
Before you go, here's a one-minute practice I use with myself, right in the chair. Sit back. Let the chair hold you, the same way it holds you at the end of a long day. Let your feet go heavy on the floor. Take one long breath in. And breathe out longer than it came in, like the tide going out. Now ask yourself one question. What is my weather today? Whatever comes first, let it be the answer. Cloudy, stormy, clear, it doesn't matter. Don't argue with it. There's no wrong weather here. Fog counts. Storms count too. Just notice it. That's all today is asking of you. Before you open your eyes, name one thing you're grateful for. Just one. That's the whole practice. One minute, and you already know your own weather for the day.
Do that through every season change, and you'll stop being surprised by your own tiredness. On Tuesday it's the equinox, and I'll walk you through a longer practice made just for that day. Today was about understanding why you feel this way at all. If you'd like to go deeper, I've put my ten-day journey together. It's called The Nature Reset. The link is below. And there's a link to book a gentle session too. In person, or from anywhere. We are nature. So it's allowed to change with the season, the same way the trees do, the same way the light does. I'm Fernanda. Come as you are.
Would you like Fernanda to guide you herself? Sessions are online from anywhere, or in person in the Lower Mainland, BC. Or start with the ten-day audio course.
